Médard Maertens was a Belgian painter born in 1875 and active during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is associated with post-Impressionist tendencies and produced landscapes and genre scenes characterised by an attention to light and atmosphere. Maertens worked primarily in Belgium and contributed to the broader tradition of regional landscape painting that was prominent in Belgian art of his period. He died in 1946.
