A serene, sun-drenched harbour scene by Belgian artist Léopold Lecomte (1890-1963). Following the Impressionist movement's interest in capturing the effects of light, Lecomte captures the reflections of the sunlight and the sailing boats in the water with expressive, impasto zigzags. Signed to the lower right. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.
Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and surface dirt. Area of paint loss and overpainting on the upper margin. Two repaired holes to the canvas in the upper corners. Marks and scuffs to the frame. Overall the condition is good.
