This charming 18th century portrait depicts a young girl with dark eyes and hair and a direct gaze, said to be Georgiana Cavendish, the Duchess of Devonshire. Rendered with sweeping painterly brushstrokes in the style of Godfrey Kneller (1646-1723). Unsigned. Labelled verso. Beautifully presented in an ornate brass oval frame. On panel.
Condition
Some discolouration to the varnish. Fine craquelure throughout. Light surface marks and abrasions. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age. Light patina to the frame. Overall the frame is also in very good condition.
