After Sir Thomas Lawrence (1769-1830), this is a fine early copy of the famous painting 'The Red Boy', Master Lambton – aged six or seven, sitting on a promontory overlooking a moonlit sea. This copy by 'Cains' has been well presented in a gilt effect frame. Signed to the lower left and dated 1837. On canvas.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age. Inspection under UV light reveals minor surface restoration and retouching. The canvas has been fully relined to the reverse. Light marks and abrasions to the surface of the oil. The overall condition of the artwork is good.
