A romantic early 20th-century watercolour scene depicting a young shepherdess waiting on a country stile for her secret sweetheart. The ornate gilt-effect frame brings a touch of elegance to the overall presentation of the artwork. Signed 'G. L. Buchanan' to the lower right and dated 1918. On watercolour paper.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age, including some discolouration and foxing. Minor discolouration to the card mount. A moulding loss has been filled to the frame's upper right corner.
