An interesting pastel composition depicting a figure riding a bike. The artist Caroline Jaine is known for her portraits and social landscapes that focus on 'mis-represented' groups. This wonderful pastel with gouache focuses on World Bicycle Relief, an international, organization that specializes in large-scale, comprehensive bicycle distribution programs to aid poverty relief in developing countries around the world. Inscribed on the reverse with the title and well presented in a contemporary white frame with mount. With artists' stamp on the reverse. Possibly from Jaine's time as Artist-in-Residence at the Humanitarian Centre in 2014. Signed and dated. On wove.Condition

Artist Biography
Caroline Jaine a semi-abstract artist and published writer. Jaine also spent 14 years in the foreign service. In the past she has used installation, performance, film and photography in her work. In 2014 Jaine was Artist-in-Residence at the Humanitarian Centre. In 2012 she was shortlisted for the Searle Award for Creativity for her book-art work and in the same year was awarded a Masters in Fine Arts by Cambridge School of Art. Jaine was previously the Director of Cambridge International Arts (2012-2015) and has also worked for a year and a half as a studio painter at Damien Hirst’s studios in Stroud.
