Description

This traditional 19th century still life features an arrangement of fruits including grapes, pears, and apples, accompanied by a decorative ceramic pot and a tall glass carafe against a dark, atmospheric background. The composition is executed in a classical Dutch style with warm, muted tones and careful attention to light and shadow. Signed. Well presented in a gilt frame. On canvas on stretchers.

Condition

Signs of wear consistent with age. Discolouration to the varnish. Some undulation to the canvas. Historic restoration, including relining and a small tear repair to the lower right. Overall the artwork remains in good condition for its age. Some wear to the frame, including scuffs, chips and indentations. The overall condition of the frame is very good.
