C.L. Robertson - Original 1900 Graphite Drawing. Inscribed. From a sketchbook, signed C L Robertson on the inner cover. The sketchbook included scenes from Brazil and India, some of which are dated variously 1898-1902. Unsigned. In fine condition.It seems likely that CL Robertson was in the British Royal Navy, as his drawings include scenes on board the HMS Euphrates and HMS Malabar (both launched in 1866). This would explain his access to scenes and views as far afield as the Yemen, Brazil, Tunisia and Pakistan. His graphite drawings are beautifully observed, especially his harbour scenes and more detailed landscapes.
