An illustrative map engraving for George Virtue's edition of John Bunyan's (1628-1688) 'The Pilgrim's Progress' (1678). Inscribed with the title in plate to the upper-right corner, 'A Plan of the Road from the City of Destruction to the Celestial City. Engraved expressly for Virtue's, Elegant Edition of The Pilgrim's Progress'. There is a like impression in the Cornell University Library, from which the date is taken. On wove.

Condition

Cropped within the plate lines. There is some surface dirt and some creases to the substrate.
