Bruce Purchase was a towering Shakespearean actor who played the leads in Macbeth and Othello and worked with greats such as Olivier, McKellen and O'Toole. He was also a skilled artist whose paintings had appeared in several exhibitions, and his autobiography Changing Skies (published by Steele Roberts) was published in 2007. His role opposite Tom Baker in Dr. Who seems to have ignited a friendship between the actors, with Tom Baker appearing in many of his works.
