Description

A fine watercolour painting by the artist Bill Toop, depicting a rural landscape scene with mountains and birds in the distance. Signed and dated to the lower right-hand corner. Well-presented in a gilt-effect mount and in a 19th century wooden, gilt-effect frame. On watercolour board.

Condition

In good condition overall, with some discolouration and very minor foxing. Some marks, scuffs and small losses to the mount and frame.

Artist Biography

Bill Toop RI MCSD AOI (b.1945) is a watercolour artist who has been based in Dorset for most of his life. He attended the Bath Academy of Art and in his early career was a model maker and architectural illustrator for Salisbury Council. Alongside this and his work as an artist, he became a model and costume maker for the BBC and was involved with many programmes, including Doctor Who. In 1978, Toop left the council and became a full-time artist and was soon elected to the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour. He is also a member of the Association Of Illustrators and the Chartered Society of Designers. Toop's paintings can be found in many collections around the world, including that of the Sultan of Oman.
