Description

An impressive still life study by contemporary British artist Bernard Myers (1925-2007) depicting a white jug with daisies. Myers' distinctive style presents the viewer with a contemporary and fresh refiguring of a traditional subject matter. By moving the pastel across the page in light, sweeping motions Myers has picked up the organic textures present within the substrate. This give the study a print-like aesthetic which plays with the notion of reproduction. Through bold aesthetic choices Myes' creates a commentary around printmaking and the hand-crafted as opposite and opposing methods of creative production.

Well presented in a card mount and modern wood frame. With a 'Business Art Galleries, London' gallery label on the reverse, inscribed and titled.

Signed. On wove.

There is some light scuffing to the edge of the frame, otherwise in excellent condition.
