Artist Biography

The eldest son of Nathan, a barber, and Letty, a hairdresser, Myers was educated at Skinner's School in Tunbridge Wells. He enlisted in the RAF as a Volunteer Reservist in 1943 until his demobilisation in 1947. After this, he enrolled at St Martin’s School, Camberwell and the Royal College of Art, eventually coming full circle to teach as a senior lecturer at the Architectural Association School and the RCA. As a commercial artist, he designed posters for British Railways, examples of which are held by the National Railway Museum. His works are also held by the Tate, Arts Council England and the National Maritime Museum, to name a few. In 1987, he moved into a studio on the Thames at Hammersmith and said of the period that his work "was dominated by the river". He exhibited at various locations throughout the UK; his last exhibition was held at the New Grafton Gallery, Barnes in April 2005.
