This colourful gouache by British artist Bernard McDonald (b.1944), depicts al fresco tables screened from the hot Italian sun. The restaurant's red furnishings fill the painting's foreground, with glimpses of the sea hinted through ruffled green trees. Signed to the lower right. The impressionistic painting has been beautifully presented in a double-bevelled mount and contemporary frame. On paper.
