The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is light foxing. Some minor losses around the edge of the frame.

Bernard Eyre Walker (1887-1972) was a painter and etcher born in Harlow, Essex. . Despite having an artist for a father (William Eyre Walker) he received very little formal training, due in no small part to the unusual handicap for an artist, of being partially colour blind. He succeeded however in becoming an accomplished watercolourist and aquatinter. He was elected an RE in 1912, engraving and etching forming the bulk of his early work. He travelled widely in Majorca, Southern France, Sweden and America and lived variously on the Isle of Skye and in the Lake District. He also showed at the RA, Connell & Sons, MAFA, Cooling Gallery, Lincoln Artists' Society, RSA and with the Lake Artists Society of which he was ultimately made an Honorary Life Member.
A retrospective exhibition of his work was held at the Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal, during the year after his death. This succeeded a similar show held the year of his demise at Liverpool Bluecoat Gallery. His work is in the collection of Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool, Bootle Art Gallery, Williamson Art Gallery, Birkenhead and Abbot Hall Art Gallery, Kendal. His name is sometimes incorrectly listed as Eyre-Walker as is that of his father.
