Description
A striking early 19th-century portrait of Coleta Quentin, wife of Peter. An inscription in Latin records that she was born 14 August 1776 and died 2 August 1831. Her gaze is direct and solemn, confronting the viewer with quiet intensity. She is dressed in modest attire, wearing a ruffled bonnet and a high-necked dress, rendered with restrained elegance. Unsigned. Beautifully presented in a gilt frame. Listed alongside a companion piece SX017. On canvas laid to panel.Condition
Some discolouration to the surface. Fine craquelure and light abrasions throughout. Inspection under UV light reveals very small areas of restoration. Overall the artwork is in very good condition for its age. Light wear to the frame, including scuffs and indentations. Overall the frame is in very good condition.
