paint, born in Prague, Czechoslovakia and known variously as Bedrich, Friedrich, Fritz and Frederick who established a significant reputation in Germany before World War II. He studied at Prague Academy of Art, 1904-05, but was expelled for 'revolutionary artistic activity'. During the period 1905-07 Feigl attended ateliers in Antwerp and Paris before returning to the town of his birth. A founder member of 'Osma' group, being anti-traditionalist and an admirer of Van Gogh, Gauguin and Munch, he held his first solo exhibition in 1912 in Berlin. After the German occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1938 he was arrested trying to emigrate and sent to a concentration camp in Westphalia. In 1939 aided by Artists' Refugee Committee and Czech Refugee Trust Fund he arrived in England. He showed with the AIA and is represented in the collection of the Ben Uri.
