Beautifully Figured 1878 Brass Bound Walnut Writing Slope

A dated 1878 brass bound figured walnut writing slope. |Inscribed and dated brass plaque on the lid. The figuring on the walnut is excellent here. The interior is good, with a hidden compartment with two drawers. The leather skiver needs renewal. There is a split in the left side with the lid which is due to drying and shrinkage of the wood over the years. 40 x 24 x 15 cm.
