Bay Robinson (1898-1983) - 1958 Watercolour, Pyecombe Church



This dynamic watercolour shows a view of the Church at Pyecombe surrounded by stark trees in Winter. The artist's unusual dry brush work creates a crisp Winter's atmosphere. The artist has signed twice to the lower right hand quadrant. This painting was exhibited in the Royal Academy in 1958.

The painting is presented in a glazed, light wood frame with an off-white card mount.

Artist Biography

Painter, illustrator and printmaker who was the daughter of the black and white artist, Charles Robinson. She was born in London and privately educated before studying at Hornsey College Of Art. Bay Robinson exhibited at the R.A R.I., R.B.A. and the Society of Graphic Artists as well as a solo exhibition at Walker's Gallery in Bond Street. She also illustrated several children's books.
