B. Wong Ngie Lang - Mid 20th Century Charcoal Drawing, Vyner of Sarawak

A crisp, charcoal portrait of Vyner of Sarawak. Sarawak was part of the realm of Brunei until 1841 when James Brooke was granted a sizeable area of land in the southwest area of Brunei. The White Rajahs were a dynastic monarchy of the British Brooke family, who founded and ruled the Raj of Sarawak, located on the north west coast of the island of Borneo, from 1841 to 1946. The artist has signed and dated to the lower left corner and the portrait has been presented in a contemporary black frame with glazing. On wove.

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration at the outer edges of the wove. The frame has general surface scuffing.

31.4 x 24cm (12.4" x 9.4")
