Axel Herman Haig (1835-1921) - Early 20th Century Etching Toledo Cathedral
Description
An accomplished etching with atmospheric lighting depicting the interior of Toldeo Cathedral in Spain. The etching features heavily detailed pillars stretching up into the darkened vaulted ceiling above. Groups of figures in the foreground give scale to the size of the cathedral. The artist has signed the the plate lines and monogrammed and dated the image within the plate. There is also an inscription at the top and bottom of the plate stating the printing date and address and the original copyright. Signed and inscribed. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is a small perforation at the bottom plate line and small patches of dried glue at the top edge. There is a small amount of general dirtying around the border.
