Auguste-Jean Gaudin was a French painter and engraver born 29 July 1914 in Argentré-du-Plessis (Ille-et-Vilaine), died 23 May 1992. He was a pupil of Pierre Galle at the School of Fine Arts of Rennes. He joined the French army between 1940 and 1945 and was a prisoner of war at some point in this period. His early works were heavily influenced by Picasso and his contemporaries. Gaudin got to exhibit alongside Picasso, Chagall, Otto Dix and Gerson Leiber at the River College in the USA.
His entire studio collection was recently auctioned in Paris.
