Attributed to Sidney Yates Johnson (fl. 1890 - 1926) - Original 19th Century Oil. A very fine and well executed dramatic coastal landscape with jagged cliffs, with small sailing boats on the rough seas, excellently presented in a gilt frame with scrolling leaf design and acanthus corners. Painted on Windsor and Newton canvas and titled to the reverse of the canvas "The Evening Glory of the Western Sky". The style and brushwork of this seascape bears significant similarities to other seascapes with sunsets painted by Sidney Yates Johnson. Unsigned. On canvas. There is some light surface dirt and minor discolouration in areas, typical for a painting of this age. Inspection under UV light shows scattered restoration. Frame is in good condition, overall the appearance is very good.
