The condition is typical for a picture of this age including discolouration and light foxing. There is some creasing to the lower right-hand corner and a 2 cm tear to the right-hand margin. Some marks and trapped dirt to the mount. Small losses and dents to the frame.

William Henry Harriot was a watercolourist and friend of renowned painter John Sell Cotman. He even permitted Cotman to trace his drawings for use in his own work. Harriott toured in Europe most years and exhibited from 1811-37. Examples of his work can be found at Bridport Art Gallery.
