A fine landscape view of Peterborough Cathedral, attributed to the watercolourist William Evans (1798-1877), known as 'Evans of Eton'. The cathedral hangs in shadow, contrasting with the surrounding foliate landscape. Rural buildings to the foreground convey further detail and a full sense of place. The artist has achieved a fine sense of depth and setting. Inscribed to the reverse 'Peterborough by Wm Evans'. Inscribed on the reverse.On wove.

In very good condition overall, for a picture of this age. Some minor surface discolouration.
