Description
A dramatic oil landscape depicting a woodland at night, where trees are illuminated by the last glimpse of fading light. McLachlan employs loose, naturalistic brushwork to capture dappled light filtering through the canopy, creating a contemplative atmosphere characteristic of the Barbizon school. The painting is well presented in a decorative gilt-effect frame with fluted cove. Provenance: no. 56 in Landscape Exhibition, Dudley Gallery, 171 Piccadilly, January 1896, according to a label verso. On board.Condition
Light wear to the gilt effect frame. The overall condition of the artwork is very good.
