A charming watercolour study attributed to British artist Samuel Austin. The scene depicting men with horse and carts offloading boats on the Rhine. Unsigned. Presented in a gilt frame. Artist name and title inscribed to the mount. On paper.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. There is light foxing. There is some light scratching to the glass and minor wear to the frame.

Artist Biography
Samuel Austin a painter born in Liverpool. He started his career as a banker’s clerk, but eventually decided to work as a full time artist. In 1827 he was elected an associate of the Society of Painters in Watercolours.
He specialised in landscape and coastal scenes working mainly in watercolour. From 1829 to 1831 Austin was one of several artists who contributed drawings to Lancashire Illustrated.
