The Reverend John Haydon Cardew was born in Noakhali, Bengal in 1823. He was the great-great-grandson of Dr Cornelius Cardew. He served as the rector at Belton, Cleeve Prior, Blakeney, and also later worked in Cheltenham. He died at Wingfield, Wiltshire, in 1897.
