Description

A charming watercolour painting with gouache details, attributed to the artist Myles Birket Foster. The scene depicts a view of Lake Geneva with a small boat. Unsigned. There is a label on the reverse inscribed with the artist's name and title. Presented in a card mount and in a gilt-effect frame, with an outer ornate detail, as shown. On watercolour paper.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration and light foxing. Some marks to the mount and small scuffs to the frame.

Artist Biography

Myles Birket Foster RWS (1825-1899) was a British illustrator, watercolourist and engraver in the Victorian period. Foster exhibited over 400 works at the Old Watercolour Society of which he was elected a member in 1862.
