Overall the condition is good. With minor surface marks and light surface scratches. Most noticeable at the outer edges and corners. Inspection under UV light reveals no sign of restoration.

Ken Symonds was born in 1927 and moved to Cornwall in the early 1960's. Symonds started his career in London, where he worked as a free-lance designer, focusing on book covers and illustrations. His studies in art had been on scholarship to the Regent Street Polytechnic, after working for some years for the Great Western Railway, based at Swindon. The Borough of Swindon awarded him their first grant to attend art school after completing his apprenticeship. Symonds and his wife set up their studio in St Erth, near both Penzance, and St Ives. Ken joined both the Penwith Society and the Newlyn Society of Artists, and exhibited often with both. He exhibited widely and often, teaching classes at the Penzance School of Art, the St Ives School of Painting and he took on individual pupils at his own studios. In 1995 Symond's published a portfolio of 30 watercolours 'Around the Penwith' with the St Ives Printing Company. He died in 2010.
