Description

A picturesque scene on the River Colne with a pair of figures fishing from a tree trunk. Presented glazed in a wash line mount with gold detailing and a distressed gilt-effect wooden frame. Unsigned. There is a label on the verso inscribed with the name of the artist and title, most likely copied from the verso of the painting itself. On watercolour paper.

Well-presented and in excellent condition for its age.

Artist Biography

J.M. Boggis (fl.1823-46) was a British landscape painter. He was based in Cambridge and exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists at the Suffolk Street Galleries, London, from 1823 to 1846.
