A fine early or mid 19th Century watercolour attributed to the watercolour landscape painter James Bourne (1773-1857), depicting a stone bridge over a rocky river. In the typical manner of Bourne, figures balance the composition, and the approach to foliage is remarkably similar to other listed works by him.
Well-presented in a gilt wooden frame and washline mount, as shown. There is a label from the Bournstream Gallery to the reverse, reading 'James Bourne 1773-1857. Provenance: Abbott and Holder Sept 1982'.
Unsigned. On wove.In very good condition for a picture of this age, with some light surface discolouration and spotting. The frame has a distressed look, with minor scuffing.
