Description

A pastoral landscape with a quaint watermill nestled among rolling hills and trees. A small stream flows beneath the wooden mill wheel, and a solitary red figure stands by the water. The painting is carefully rendered in warm earth tones and soft brushwork. Well presented in a distressed gilt-effect frame. Original label verso attributing the work to James Archibald Campbell Dickson. On panel.

Condition

Discolouration to the varnish. Warping to the upper left of the panel. Surface marks throughout the composition. Paint loss along the margins of the panel. Bitumen deterioration to the lower half of the painting. Wear, loss, and scuffing have left the frame with a distressed finish.
