Henry Harris Lines trained in Birmingham, eventually becoming a pupil of David Cox. Elected a member of Birmingham Society of Artists in 1826 and figured in the local directory between 1830-1884 In the early 1820s he travelled to Switzerland. Towards the end of the decade, he accompanied David Cox to Haddon Hall and other parts of Derbyshire and the Yorkshire Dales. He moved to Worcester and spent most of his life as an art teacher.
