Attrib. Giuseppe Mazzola (1748-1838) - 1798 Watercolour Spinning Cotton
Description
A delicate and finely detailed watercolour showing a group of women with spindles and cotton. Their children play around them as they work. The feeling of happiness in their work shines through on their faces and they seem relaxed in their task. The artist has finished the painting with fine lines of black detail and bright splashes of colour. The delicacy of the line work and suggestion of form is truly masterful.
The painting is unsigned on the front but bears the signature "Mazzola" on the reverse with the date 1798. The artwork has been presented in an off-white card mount.
On laid.
