Depicting a peaceful river running through a mountainous landscape this fine watercolour has the hallmarks of the British painter David Hall McKewan. Originally purchased with the attribution to McKewan already in place this watercolour study is a fine example of 19th century draughtsmanship. Unsigned. On wove.Condition
The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration.

Artist Biography
David Hall McKewan was a painter and watercolourist known for his landscapes. McKewan exhibited drawings in London at the Royal Academy from 1837 to 1849 and at Suffolk Street until 1844. He became a member of the Institute of Painters in Watercolours in 1848. Some of his work is currently in the collection of Cardiff Museum.
