This extremely fine and floriferous depiction of an urn bursting with summer flowers has been attributed to the 18th century painter Ann Beesley (fl.1774-1783). Typical for the period, the artist has a unique delicacy of medium, combining watercolour with touches of graphite in an effortless manner.
Well presented in a dark green gilt lined mount and thin wooden frame with gilt detail, as shown.
On On wove.In remarkably very good condition for a picture of this age. Some even surface discolouration to the paper. The frame is very good ,with only light wear to the corners.

Ann Beesley (fl.1774-1783) was a member of an 18th century English family of fruit and flower painters. This included John Beesley (fl.1763-1783) and Robert Beesley (fl.1767-1798), both painters of still life, fruits and flowers. She exhibited ten of her own pictures at the Free Society in London. Leading members seceded from this society in 1768, a move leading directly to the formation of the Royal Academy of Arts. The Free Society of Artists was dissolved in 1783.
