Arthur Troyte Griffith (1864-1942) was an architect, painter, and decorative artist who was born in Oxford and attended Oxford University. In 1896 he moved to Malvern in Worcestershire where he practised as an architect. Griffith designed the Worcestershire Beacon Toposcope, All Saints Church in Lower Wyche, and several houses in the area. He was also a painter and decorative artist exhibiting at the Royal Birmingham Society of Artists, Dudley Gallery, and at the London Salon. An altar frontal and superfrontal cloth that was designed by Griffith for the Anglican Church of St. Andrews, Pau, France is illustrated in Studio Magazine, November 1908. Griffith was a friend of the composer Sir Edward Elgar and was immortalised as 'Troyte', the 7th variation in his orchestral suite Enigma Variations, (1898-99). Griffith lived at The Priory, Gateway, Malvern, and died in that town.
