The hessian has become slack in areas and has several tears wear it folds and fixes onto the stretcher bars. There is a watermark to the upper left-hand corner and a small tear to the lower right of the composition (below the artist's signature). A large patch repair has been made to the reverse of the canvas, carefully concealed by overpainting to the front.
