Anton Van Anrooy (1870-1949) was born in Holland and educated at Delft University, studying art afterwards at the Hague Academy of Art. He moved to London in 1896 and took British nationality.
He is known mainly for his work in watercolors and exhibited often with the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour, of which he was a member. Interiors in Shelley House and Lansdowne House were important works. He was elected RI in 1915, also showing at RA, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool, Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts and Goupil Gallery. Was a member of Arts Club while living in London.
