Annabel Playfair (b.1965) is a contemporary artist based in the Cotswolds. She trained at The City and Guilds of London, Chelsea College of Art, and Les Beaux Arts in Paris. Early in her career she favoured the medium of charcoal, and predominantly depicted animals. She now works mainly in oils, preferring to paint 'en plein air' to capture the light, colour, and form of the landscape.
"My style has evolved over the years to my current oil paintings, which are inspired by various artists from the post-impressionist movement to the present day. Whether painting in my studio or outside, I try to capture the colours and shapes of my subjects through light and shadows. I have also taken to painting interiors, trying to bring to life rooms, people and dogs with all their individual idiosyncrasies."
