Artist Biography
Angela Douglas Conner (b.1935) is a British sculptor and painter. In her early career, Conner worked as an apprentice to Barbara Hepworth in her celebrated Cornwall studio. She has exhibited at Victoria and Albert Museum, Friends of the Tate Gallery Studio Show, and the Royal Academy, and has worked on numerous commissions for major private and public collections including royalty. Chatsworth House has a collection of 14 bronze busts located in the grounds, including portraits of Lucian Freud, the Eleventh Duke of Devonshire, Harold Macmillan, Roy Strong, HRH the Prince of Wales, Camilla Parker-Bowles and John Betjeman. Conner was commissioned to sculpt from life Queen Elizabeth II by the Knights of the Garter to mark the Queen's 80th birthday.
