Artist Biography
Alwyn Crawshaw is a painter and writer, born in Mirfield, Yorkshire he studied under Vincent Lines at Hastings School of Art 1949-51. A representational landscape painter mainly using acrylic paints, he has for many years been a demonstrator for many commercial art material manufacturers. He has shown at the RBA and has written numerous painting instruction books and manuals. Crawshaw is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and a member of the Society of Equestrian Artists and the British Watercolour Society. His solo exhibition venues included Harrods, Barclay Art Gallery in Chester and Guildford Galleries in Surrey.
As well as radio and television appearances Crawshaw was the author of many instructional books some of which are detailed below. His paintings are often reproduced in print form by Felix Rosenstiel in London. Torre Abbey Museum has examples.
