Description

A pretty, impressionist Russian School scene in oil, showing a view of the Novodevichy convent from across a lake. The artist has used a vibrant palette and textured brush work to capture the freshness of the Russian Summer and the glistening golden domes of the convent. The artist has signed to the lower left and the painting has been presented in a 20th Century gilt frame with handsome acanthus leaf molding and beaded strap work at the return edge. The artist has signed and inscribed in Cyrillic to the reverse. On canvas.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including minor discolouration to the varnish.

Novodevichy Convent, also known as Bogoroditse-Smolensky Monastery, is probably the best-known cloister of Moscow. Its name, sometimes translated as the New Maidens' Monastery, was devised to differ from the Old Maidens' Monastery within the Moscow Kremlin

Artist Biography

Painter. Member of the Union of artists of the USSR.
In 1962 he graduated from the Ivanovo art College in 1968 – Moscow State Art Institute. V. I. Surikov with honors (class of Professor A. M. Gritsai).
In 1970 he joined the Moscow Union of Artists.
Personal exhibition of Alla Pereverzeva was held in 1973 in Moscow.
The artist's works are in private collections in Russia and abroad.
