Collection Information
Alice M.A. Baumgartner appears to have belonged to a small group of artists who shared comments and criticisms of each other’s work. Each had a nickname, hers being ‘Care’, and others went under names such as ‘Boots’, ‘Pig’ and ‘Crumpets’. Some of the drawings have comments from others in the group inscribed on the reverse. Our collection includes watercolours, pen and ink, and graphite drawings of English scenes, dating from the 1870s-1890s. For our full collection of her work please see here.
