Artist Biography
Alfred Sanderson Edward was a painter, born in Dundee, and apprenticed to an architect. He later studied art in Edinburgh, moving to London once his training was complete. He exhibited at the RSA, RBA, RA, RHA, ROI, GI and was elected RBA in 1894. He was also a member of the London Sketch Club and the Hogarth Club. He lived in London and Puckeridge in Hertfordshire. He travelled widely, painting in France, Holland, Spain, the Canaries and Africa, and much of his work was marine-based. Examples are held by Aberdeenshire Museum Services and Dundee Art Galleries and Museums.
