Description

A striking wood engraving by Alfred Percy Friend depicting a rolling landscape, closely matching in style to British wood engraving revival artists Ethelbert White and Lady Mabel Annesley. The relief print utilises stark black-and-white contrast, expressive line-work in the sky, and textured pattern in the mountain peaks. Presented mounted in a slim black frame. Signed and dated verso. Acquired with a companion work (sz080). On paper.

Condition

Even discolouration to the print paper. The frame has minor surface wear including scratch marks/imperfections to the original glazing (lower right). Overall, the artwork is in good condition for its age.

Size

12.5 x 14.5cm (4.9" x 5.7")
