A fine 20th Century military study, showing the Major of the Sherwood Foresters in full uniform. The Sherwood Foresters was a line infantry regiment of the British Army in existence for just under 90 years, from 1881 to 1970. The artist has monogrammed and dated to the lower right corner and the painting has been presented in a simple wood frame. The artist has inscribed to the reverse of the paper: "Major, The Sherwood Foresters (Derbyshire Regiment), 1900. Painted by Alexandra C. Baker, 24th November 1987." On watercolour paper.
