Description

An intensely atmospheric etching depicting a kneeling woman praying close to the altar. areas of shafting sunlight pick out the columns and vaulted ceilings with a tomb catching the light in the foreground. The proportions of this etching highlight and exaggerate the scale of the building. The print quality is very clean and the highlights are vibrant and unmuddied. The plate has a miniature profile portrait of a religious figure at the bottom and has been signed in pencil by the artist. The print has also been etched with the artist's initials in the bottom right corner and the printer's address and date at the top. Signed. On wove.

Condition

The condition is typical for a picture of this age including some discolouration. The print itself is in fine condition with the border having a large crease in the top left corner owing to a loss on card and wood mount.
