A haunting lithograph depicting the retreat of the Serbian military and civilians in 1915, originally sketched by Aldo Carpi de Resmini (1886-1973). The Serbian government made the decision, on 23 November 1915, to retreat through Montenegro and Albania where they hoped to reach the Adriatic coast and be rescued by Allied ships. Inscribed to the lower left. Signed and dated '1915' in the plate and also signed in pastel by the artist. Printed on wove laid to backing paper. With a seal from the Ministry of the Navy, Special Office.
